Senior Lighting Engineer

Position Overview:

As a senior Lighting Engineer creates Lighting design and set up the lighting arrangements for live and pre-recorded events such as concerts, television shows, and movies. He / She uses lighting to set the ambiance, mood, and style of a staged event. He / She works closely with the Project Manager to understand the expectations. He /She works with stagehands, riggers, and electricians to configure the lighting and switching. During the production, the Lighting Engineer creates different lighting effects in action based on pre-determined cues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process, load, and ship orders accurately
  • Responsible for programming, operating and maintaining all aspects of the show lighting, show control, and haze/low fog systems in various entertainment venues for rehearsals, shows, special events, and other activities.
  • Meet with guest entertainers and certain groups to find out what their lighting-related requirements may be for upcoming rehearsals, shows, or activities.
  • Assist with and oversee the setup, positioning, and strike of effects lighting and related equipment for certain events or activities in different venues aboard the ship.
  • Responsible for seeing that all lighting, show control, haze/fog, and related equipment are properly maintained and kept in good working order.



Reports To:

Director of Operations


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a relevant field
  • At least 4+ years of administrative experience with executive members.
  • Good programming skills on ETC consoles, including experience in programming consoles for large-scale productions.
  • CAD skills (preferably in Vectorworks)
  • A working knowledge of sound equipment and its operation.
  • Computer literate in all MS Office applications.
  • Enthusiasm for and an interest in theatre.
  • First Aid training
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Full Clean Driving License
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.
  • German is an Advantage
